Welcome to the Spent Dandelion Theological Retreat Center, situated along Minnesota’s North Shore!
Here you can find quiet in our 20 acres of forest, nestled in our full studio apartment, complete with a small kitchen, shower, a full and a queen bed, and a deck overlooking our woods.
Enjoy access to nearby Lake Superior with our paddle boards, canoe, or kayaks; hike, snowshoe, or ski along trails at the Spent Dandelion or along the North Shore; and enjoy eateries and galleries in Duluth, Two Harbors, and all along the way to Grand Marais.
But what sets the Spent Dandelion apart is that, much akin to spiritual direction, each night avails you to one hour of conversation with Rev. Dr. Anna Madsen, a Lutheran pastor and public theologian. To every visit with each guest, she brings an interest to hearing your questions, to providing resources for your further reflection, and offering frameworks and responses to your religious and theological musings.
Trained in systematic theology; a Ph.D. on God and suffering; personal experience with suffering by way of the death of her husband and her son’s TBI; and an enduring dedication to the relationship of theology and politics, theology and mental health, and theology and the church, Anna is of the mind that theology doesn’t matter unless it matters.
Theology matters. You matter. Your questions matter.
Because they matter, the Spent Dandelion has opted to try a Pay-What-You-Can model.
You can learn more about the reasons and the rate guidelines here.
Please check out that page on the Spent Dandelion home page, and then contact Anna at 605-521-6284 or anna@spentdandelion.com to begin to book your stay.
Retreat. Reflect. Restore.
